Someone probably have told you to leave a cup on the table, because someone else gets paid to clean those tables.
However, I personally never understood this.
It’s not your job to keep the world around you a nice place?
Would you rather read a book in a cafe next to empty cups and a plastic wrapper? Or would you rather sit in a tidy sweet place?
Personally I like to keep things around me tidy and leave them so. I’d love if others would do the same for me. Also this makes life of a poor employee who’s already in a hectic state, much easier.
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. – Edmund Burke
Well, not as dramatic, but you get the point.
Even if you find yourself in a terrible place with a poor economy. You still have control of yourself and keeping things around you in a wonderful state.
What will you get from it?
A healthy mental state. And what does it cost? Being a decent human being.
Let’s be honest, world sucks only thanks to pure human laziness and greed. Not everything is your job, because other things are moral grounds of entire humanity.
I was raised in a pretty poor country, my grandparents weren’t rich. However, their house was always tidy, grass was cut, trees and fence was freshly painted, garden was rich of fruits and berries.
Something about that made my childhood seem like I was living in a fairy tale or in one of those fancy Hollywood movies about Ancient Greece or Egypt.
Give your best to the world. Treat things with the same care as if they were yours. In short, be a decent human being. Because if not you, than who?
